Time for a Break

I hope everyone had a great Holiday! I enjoyed my time, and have been working really hard the past few days, and am exhausted. Music rejuvinates me, and luckily for me, tomorrow is my Friday, and I will not be returning back to work until Tuesday. Fabulous. Tonight I was digging into some old favorites, and I found this video of a song that I really like. The artists are The Decemberists, and I think they are wonderful. I checked to see about any upcoming tour dates, but there currently are not any. I will keep you updated for sure. In the meantime, enjoy this fun tongue in cheek video.

The Decemberists

You will be seeing more of me this week, and hopefully I will be able to make daily updates on happenings around here. I am continually working on the Confessions of a Concert Addict website, and extensive Concert Venue page. You can expect at least one post a week, but hopefully much more. I have three writers who have joined me, all with varying tastes in music, but the same passion, and look forward to their future posting as well.

Peace Out for the Holidays!

I hope everyone has a great Holiday break. I officially begin mine tonight so I will be out of the blogging loop for a little while ( I do have a huge family, two dogs, and a lovely to tend to). However, I will be finished with the family stuff for some concerting this weekend, so woohoo!

On a side note, I did get blogged on today. It wasn't nice, but it is what it is. For those of you who know me, you know this blog is 100% me, from the wording, to how I have been discussing it over the years on how I envision my site, so with that, I am happy with my passion and will continue it. It's about music, not drama, so I'll leave that for the Television/Movie Addicts out there!

With that, I leave you with *surprise* some music (kind of).

Battle of the Pop Queens

For me, personally, I'm not a big fan of the big "POP" omg phase of music. There are select songs that I do like, and this type of music does have it's place in this world (although for the life of me I am unsure of where, or even if, it belongs with me). My fellow blogger Sarah is a big fan of this type of music (and she does pick the best out of it!), so this begs me to ask a question. After reviewing some top videos, I am curious as to where these Popstars stand. Who would kick who off of the popularity charts. So, here is the question:

Out of the Pop Sensations, who do you prefer, or in my case, who would cause me to not want to gouge me ears out the quickest? Send me your thoughts. Below are the contenders of this week, and the Poll is located on the right side of my blog. Music gods, please forgive me.

Miley Cyrus

Taylor Swift-Love Story

Britney Spears-Womanizer

I would love to post the other videos, but they currently aren't able to be posted elsewhere yet, so please check out the songs on YouTube and let me know your thoughts!

The End is the Beginning

With many things tucked away until after the new year, I am very excited to be throwing myself into my posts, my music, and the calendar! I would like to thank everyone who is contributing to the calendar and promoting your favorite bands. Music time, YES!

As custom, here is one of my top five artists. He is amazing. He comes to Atlanta/Athens/Metro Area quite a bit. Please go out and see him, he should be more well known than he is.
Angie Aparo

I also like this band as well, I have seen them a few times and I enjoy their music. I would love to get the word out about them. Check out their myspace for more tunes.

Until later, sit with some nice hot chocolate and enjoy yourself beside a fireplace. And if the nogg is calling you, may I suggest a little bit of rum!

Good Beats, Chromeo Romeo

It was a while back, maybe even last year, that I stumbled upon electrofunk duo of Chromeo. No matter what mood I am in, these guys make me tap my food and nod my head. And with lines, "Get outta my face, alright...all..alright"..who can't love these guys. Reminds me a bit of Weird Al..and I'm not sure why. They are not the normal run of the mill music, but definitely worth checking out.

And for fun, here is another one of my favorite locals from Athens, Georgia.

Modern Skirts

Until tomorrow, have a wonderful night. Remember, calling all bands!

Atlanta Band News for December: Highlight

The Zac Brown band may not be very well known to many of you. But for a wide range of grass root followers, this band holds a very special place in our music vault. This month the band broke out of their mold of small time (although for us they have never been small time), and their single "Chicken Fried" went to #1 on the Billboard!

We want to congratulate you guys on a such a wonderful job. For all of us who have followed you for years, we are very excited for your future!

I just can not help but smile when I think of sweet tea, chicken, and homemade pies. Oh. And the beer.

Music to Study By...

Being in graduate school is a great feeling. It is almost like college, minus the beer kegs, all night parties, and coming to class in the jammies. I love being in a classroom, learning once more, and getting closer to my life goal. The beer kegs, the parties, and jammies are still utilized, but not in the "omg I'm so in college" sense.

I am trying to study, yet I continue to find myself looking outside our window and seeing all the Christmas lights. The time has flown by this year, and I truly can't believe that it's time to gather with the family once more. I love this time of year. It makes me happy, just like all the lights and smells from a fair!

Alright, enough procrastinating. To assist me in my studying, it is essential to have the studying tunes. I have many songs that pump me up, and calm me down to get my juices flowing. This is one of them.

Meet Guster. One of my favs.

And just because I love Acoustic

The will be getting back to touring after a short stint of being off the radar after some additions to families. I highly recommend attending one of their concerts when they are in your town.

Calling All Locals

I am itching to get into the local scene again and really see what music is out there. If those who may stumble upon this blog, or those who read this blog, know of any local bands that would love the opportunity for a spot in my blog, please send them my way. I would love to review their CD, write about it, and take part in helping to get the word out for them. I'm interested in starting Band Bios and Interviews for the Local Atlanta Scene!

This is not saying that I will like everything that I hear, but I do believe that there is something for everyone. I am honest in my review, and my feelings on the music I like. Some bands may not like my opinion, but I will always be fair in letting others judge for themselves. To each their own. My job isn't to tear the creativity down...it's to let it be shown to others. So bring me some music Atlanta people!

Calling all bands, here is my WishList and your fabulous offer:

1.) Contact me. I'm eager to hear from you!

2.) Send me a CD. I will listen to it within the week, and get back to you
with my thoughts and reviews.

3.) Send me your Band Bio.I want to promote the local scene and when I find a band that I heart, everyone will know.

4.) If you can get me into a show, great. I would love to take pictures and
review the live feel from your music.

5.) Join my Blog, and it secures you a spot on the upcoming website that will be your all access pass to the world wide web of music and concert information. Even my mother will know who you are!

The time is now, and the music is our motivation. Friends, send me your favorite locals! Much love!

Watch This

One of this weeks most watched videos is a song from the movie Twilight. I am a fan of the Twilight books, and although the movie was tolerable, it did not provide me with as much in depth feeling for the characters. This may have been why I missed out on much of the soundtrack from the movie because I do not remember this song at all. She does have a nice voice.

PARAMORE: Decode

What do you think? Worthy of one of the videos of the week? I do have to say, it makes me fond of the color red again.

The Daily Report

Today I decided to share some music from a band that brings back that old school, rock and roll feel when you listen to them. For those who have not heard, or specifically seen, The Black Keys in concert, I would recommend it. I had the pleasure of seeing one of their gigs at the Tabernacle a while back, and it was amazing that so much sound and diversity could be coming from just these two guys!

So for my pleasure, I have decided to post one of their songs to introduce you all to this band.
The Black Keys

I've always been a fan of Stereophonics, so for a good "oldie", here ya go! This song makes me want to get up, dance about, and really get my head into motion. I could see me getting a headache from my shenanigans as I enjoy this song.

Stereophonics

Send me your thoughts. The next post will be in regards to one of the most viewed videos this week. Will you agree? We shall see.

All in Good Time

My website is coming along well, and in the meantime, I will be blogging a lot! I have created a YouTube account, so get ready for some awesome music to come your way with reviews, and concert updates very soon after the new year.

So to update. I took an excellent trip to Chicago to catch the Oasis show. It was amazing. Not many Americans appreciate the genious of this group, and I hope that they get some more light upon them soon. They are a talent to watch! Their new CD is very good, although different than their normal Oasis style. Below is one of my favorites from the new CD, courtesy the singing talents of Noel. I love this man. He forever amazes me with his song writing, singing, and musical instrument talents!

Blog It!

Hello friends!

I have finally joined this world of blogging. I will be writing about things going on in my life, the good, the bad, and the strange. I hope to mostly be posting on my new venture. I am pumped and excited about it. To finally turn a passion into something tangible is an awe inspiring feeling. I have always been a lover a music, a self proclaimed concert addict.

Well, after reading Mindfulness ( a book recommended by one of my Graduate Teachers), I really want to make sure that I am making wise decisions for myself, and decisions that allow me to live my life to the fullest with great joy. I have wonderful friends I intend to spend MUCH more time with as well. Life is too short for the negative and the drama. It's time to embrace it all. Maybe this is what happens when you turn 30!!!

Anyhoo...to all of you...if you have favorite bands, musicians, songs, videos, etc...I would be interested in all of it. I am very passionate about my new venture, but I know it is going to take a lot of work. So, if you have anything, music wise, you are truly passionate about, I would love to receive it all!

Until I post next, have a great night!
