I really, really dislike Ticketmaster. Why? If you have been to a concert lately, or contemplated going to a concert, then you know the exact reason.
Music Midtown is back this year, and with a decent line up....Coldplay and The Black Keys. Wonderful. In and of themselves they are worth the $55 ticket price. Hell, the price could even be much higher and it would be worth it. However...I despise, yes, DESPISE, fees. What exactly are the fees for? No matter WHAT it is for, I can not fathom what would be worth a $16.50 fee. Yes, that's right. These wonderful tickets are $55 (plus the $1.00 donation, plus the $16.50 fee!).
Now, one may ask, but isn't $72.50 a reasonable price for Coldplay? Absolutely. For the life me though, I, at this time, will not allow myself to purchase tickets to Music Midtown because I am so disenchanted by "fees" that are taking over our concert venues and sites where we HAVE to purchase tickets. The concert itself is worth it, the principle behind the whole fee debaucle will prevent me from doing it. I am ok with putting in my earbuds and rocking out to Coldplay with my six pack of whatever I want at the good ole' price of BELOW $9.00 for a sixpack, and save my US$16.50 for something else. Ri-Dic-U-Lous.
I promise to post something happy and cheery in the future if my life ever calms down and I get to participate in some concerts. It looks like Wilco, and Guster, and Wicked, are on my list of definite to dos. I wish you were on that list Chris Martin...but alas...it looks like it wasn't meant to be. At least for now.
